The brand new woohooyoo blog

Hello!

A very warm welcome to the new Woohooyoo blog.

How are you? No really, how are you doing? It’s been quite a year hasn’t it?

We know it hasn’t been the easiest of times for many, as the saying goes; we may be weathering the same storm but we are not all in the same boat. Here at Woohooyoo HQ we are thankful to be safe and well, and we hope you are too.

Looking on the positive side, it has been encouraging to see many communities rallying around in response to the pandemic to help those in need, and incredible how society has adapted to new ways of communicating throughout the lockdown whilst observing the need to socially distance; keeping in touch with friends and family during the restrictions or working remotely, with the sudden adoption of video conferencing – we’ve never attended so many zoom calls as we have in the past 12 months!

Across the news and social media, we have heard how people have come to realise what really matters to them, what they miss doing in their spare time, and who they miss doing it with, the important people in their lives, and this made us think all the more about the importance of Woohooyoo…

If this is your first introduction to us, we’ll briefly explain the concept; Woohooyoo makes it easy to create an incredibly touching and meaningful personalised book, showing someone just how much they are loved and appreciated by friends, family and colleagues. Up to 40 people can contribute to the book, each writing a personal message of appreciation via our online platform. The result is a beautiful hardback book that’s treasured by the person receiving it, while also being hugely rewarding for those who give it. Developed by a team of Positive Psychologists, Woohooyoo was created using the principles of gratitude and appreciation.

Founders Martin Galpin and Michele Deeks explain how they came up with the idea:

“Woohooyoo is really an evolution of the work we do with businesses, where we often encourage people to share what they most appreciate about their colleagues.  A few years ago we developed an online tool, At My Best 360, where people could share their appreciation in a more structured way, and quickly saw the positive impact it had on both the givers and the receiver. People often told us that the appreciation they received really felt like a gift, we took that idea and developed Woohooyoo.”

During 2020, the number of orders for Woohooyoo books has steadily increased; at a time when the whole world has been restricted from spending quality time with loved ones, gift givers have been on the lookout for more meaningful, personal present ideas and have found our books to fit the bill. Amongst the feedback we have received has been a common thread, with many recipients saying their book has made their year, lifted their spirits, and made them thankful for their friends and family.

A Woohooyoo book is intended to uplift both the creator and recipient, making the science of human flourishing accessible to all. We receive such wonderful feedback from clients who’ve made books for loved ones and also from contributors and recipients - it’s lovely to know that our concept is making a positive and lasting impact on lots of people.

So, as lockdown restrictions begin to ease, and we start becoming accustomed to the new normal, we are embarking on a renewed effort to market Woohooyoo, and decided that a weekly blog would be the ideal way to communicate the ethos behind the idea and explain why Woohooyoo really is THE perfect gift. Expect plenty of behind-the-scenes news from the team here at Woohooyoo HQ, how-to guides for creating and contributing to a book, and of course, plenty of positive psychology.
